POSITION PURPOSE

The Human Resources Director will manage the delivery of HR services for the California division of California BioEnergy. The Human Resources Director will resolve employee issues, manage vendors, create communications, and collaborate with functional areas of both internal and external parties. This is a hands-on opportunity that will involve innovation and facilitation of activities supporting the growing renewable energy business.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• In depth knowledge of California Labor law (including wage and hour law) and ensure legal compliance

• Ensure that human resources programs are carried out in accordance with company's policies and procedures and comply with legal regulations

• Collaborates with other Human Resources professionals regarding payroll, benefits, and company-wide HR programs.

• Provide consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, like compensation, benefits, training and development, and labor relations.

• Experience with HRIS systems (ADP).

• Act as an advocate of the company’s values and culture to create a best-in-class work environment.

• Give counsel and oversee complex employee relations issues such as grievance and disciplinary cases and manage difficult cases with professionalism.

• Establish departmental accountabilities for the range of HR functions from talent acquisition to health and safety compliance and workplace safety.

• Devise recruitment strategy and oversee its implementation.

• Skills in communicating, both written and verbal in English and Spanish

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

Performance will be assessed six months after initial hire and then annually. The role will be measured against California Bioenergy, LLC activities and metrics including costs and cost effectiveness, process, process efficiency and productivity, timeliness in delivery of services, customer satisfaction of stakeholders and clients, and other areas of review.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Healthcare, or a related field.
• Professional Certification such as CEBS, PHR, or other Human Resources program.
• 10 years of related experience
• Advanced knowledge of ADP Workforce Now.
• Experience with California employment laws.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office worker

Work locations routinely take place indoors, under controlled conditions and may include walking, sitting, or standing at a desk, and using office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers, and phones. The Human Resources Director may lift items up to five pounds during the normal course of business. Some travel to field locations may occur where the Human Resources Director may be required to wear protective equipment.
