Executive Producer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Executive Producer is a leadership position overseeing the editorial, production and promotion components of newscasts and news specials. The Executive Producer's role is to oversee production of news content on multi-platforms, provide guidance and direction to news employees and perform as a member of the news management team.
Essential Functions
  1. Conceive and execute daily programs incorporating top news stories and live reports (hard and feature). This includes approval of rundowns, and management/ supervision of all news staff assigned to the newscasts.
  2. Direct and deliver production elements on a deadline
  3. Review daily line-up of stories and segments; develop future segments, stories and interviews for all platforms
  4. Oversee breaking news coverage when warranted
  5. Work on special projects as assigned
  6. Cooperate and interact with Station News and assure compliance with all relevant laws and company policy on broadcasts and news operations
  7. Manage responsibilities to produce digital content.
  8. In the absence of the news director or assistant news director, the position will be in charge of the newsroom
  9. Perform other newsroom supervisory duties as assigned by the News Director and/or General Manager
Competencies
  1. Multi-task in a dynamic, high pressure, deadline and content driven and technology-intensive environment.
  2. Candidates must be able to read, write and speak Spanish fluently.
  3. Strong proficiency in iNews preferred.
  4. Self-Starter who knows how to craft news, sports, and weather stories from beginning to end.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication.
  6. Excellent People Skills.

  8. Strategic Thinking.
  9. Strong Leadership.
  10. Teamwork.
Required Education and Experience
  1. Minimum of five years' experience as a television producer in a medium or large market
  2. Must possess strong journalistic skills, have ability to write and edit broadcast copy and promotions
  3. Proven strong leadership and management skills required
  4. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a Full Time position, Monday through Friday. Must be able to work Holidays as needed and the necessary hours to perform the duties as outlined above. Actual schedule and hours may vary.
