Primary Purpose:
Provide support for daily human resource operations. Handle routine HR inquiries and provide responsive and knowledgeable assistance to employees. Provide fingerprint and background assistance in investigation for human resources operations and employment. Handle investigations pertaining to employees, address and track notifications for current employees. Conduct volunteer, substitutes, observers, and student teachers background checks and ensure compliance with state and federal laws concerning fingerprinting requirements of employees and contractors. Employee transcript processing and data entry duties are not limited.
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing
Ability to perform basis math
Ability to read, speak and understand English
Excellent organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience:
6 months experience in HR or similar setting
6 months experience in background checks/fingerprints
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
HR Support
1. Handle routine HR inquiries to ensure a high level of service and responsive, knowledgeable support for employees and their supervisors. Explain HR policies and practices to employees as appropriate.
2. Plan, organize, and implement and maintain the charter wide biometric fingerprinting process in compliance with senate bill 9.
3. Oversee the charter wide compliance, maintenance and reporting process of state and federal compliance data, and records related to human resources.
4. Report notifications of backgrounds and fingerprints. Follow up with HR director and other charter officials as needed, to ensure adequate communication of findings.
5. Maintain HR information database to ensure that employee information is accurate, current, and reliable.
6. Maintain position control system in an accurate and timely manner. Reconcile job descriptions with position control to ensure that there is a job description for every job. Follow up with supervisors to make certain that job descriptions are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
7. Receive and process applications, including verifying completeness of files and notifying those not selected for employment.
8. Employee transcript processing and data entry.
9. Process new hire paperwork including criminal history information, references, and other application materials.
10. Receive and processed volunteer criminal history forms and maintain spreadsheets of cleared volunteers.
11. Process and review criminal history information on new employees, volunteers, and contractors.
Reports and Correspondence
12. Prepare written reports, correspondence and memoranda of investigative findings.
13. Prepare, maintain, and distribute employee handbook as directed.
14. Prepare correspondence, forms, and reports according to district standards and requirements.
Other
15. Answer and respond to incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
16. Greet visitors and assist employees and applicants to complete applications and required paperwork.
17. Assist with the preparation and distribution of employment contracts.
18. Maintain confidentiality.
19. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
20. Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor.
