Overview SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a VDI Engineer/Senior Systems Engineer at Ramstein AFB, Germany in support of a large, mission-essential IT services program with continuous (24x7) operations. The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer shall provide on-site VDI systems architecture, analysis, design, and engineering support services for classified customer communications networks. Advise staff on current and planned projects (involving technologies, methodologies, tools, optimizations, etc.) to improve and sustain VDI. Support may include reviewing design requirements, priorities, and goals, analyzing impacts of new requirements on the existing systems, and reviewing feature selections/configurations and security considerations. Essential Job Duties * Performs installation and configuration of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) enclave.
* Maintains existing VDI infrastructure, assures all installations are in accordance with DISA STIGS, vendor's specifications, best practices, and existing policies.
* Oversees daily monitoring of all assigned systems and services to ensure operations are normal.
* Responds to system outages and assists in the team's problem triage of system outages.
* Provides daily administrations, configuration, and maintenance of the VDI software application.
* Provides daily administration, maintenance, installations, and upgrades of servers. Minimum Requirements * Active in scope TOP SECRET clearance.
* BA / BS Degree with three (3) years specialized experience OR Associate degree with seven (7) years of recent specialized experience.
* Must be able to obtain certification as a Technical Expert by the German Government under the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) process.
* An IAT II certification (CCNA-Security, CND, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, or SSCP) or higher is required.
* VMware Certified Professional 7 (or newer) Data Center Virtualization and/or VMware Certified Professional Desktop Management 2024 (VCP-DTM 2024 or newer)
* Experience with VMware Horizon 8, Dynamic Environment Manager, and App Volumes.
* Experience in configuration, optimization, and resolving issues with Microsoft Windows 10/11 operating systems.
* Experience Windows Server Administration 2019/2022 preferred (or earlier versions) administration.
* Experience with basic VMware vSphere 7.0 (or later) administration.
* Experience in administration and resolving issues with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, File & Printer. * Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
* Ability to apply troubleshooting techniques to quickly resolve server hardware and software errors/problems.
* Teamwork skills to include communication, interpersonal skills, collaboration, reliability, accountability, active listening. * Ability to follow policies and procedures.
* Ability to communicate in a clear speaking voice as well as the ability to respond clearly to questions.
* Aptitude to address negative situations and resolve them in a positive manner. Preferred Qualifications * Legacy Microsoft Certifications (MCSA, MCSE, MCITP), Microsoft Certified Solution Expert Cloud Platform, or Cisco Certified Networking Associate
* Windows Server Administration and VMware Horizon 8 Administration. Work Environment * Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
