OneGlobe LLC is Hiring a Senior Systems Engineer with Security Clearance Near Reston, VA
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the administration and maintenance AWS (Amazon Web Services), On-prem Kubernetes, and Vmware clusters for both local and remote sites across the company. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will apply advanced knowledge in cutting-edge technologies to develop and deploy satellite operations and user service capabilities. You’ll be successful in this role if you are interested in honing advanced systems knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment. This position requires an active/current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). What You’ll Do: Independently provide day-to-day support and maintenance for AWS, Kubernetes, and Vmware clusters across the Network Collaborate and engage with ground software team members to develop new ground software components founded upon modern industry-standard platforms, languages, and deployment techniques Be accountable for the administration, maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting of development and production operations of Linux environments, generating ideas and applying innovative solutions Independently deliver results following Iridium processes for Change Control, Prioritization, Risk Management, Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Management Upgrade and install UNIX/Linux OS and Server software Ensure proper backup processes are in place to allow for full recovery of sites and documents Conduct regularly scheduled security audits across all UNIX and Linux systems Work directly with engineers and operators to investigate and troubleshoot issues and outages in real-time, recommending solutions to address issues Be accountable for the development and maintenance of processes, procedures, and diagrams, as it relates to system flows and installation What You’ll Need to Succeed: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related program of study OR equivalent experience 8 years of relevant professional experience 5 years of hands-on experience administering and maintaining VMware, Linux environments Experience working in UNIX/Linux, preferably Red Hat, and VMware virtualized environments A moderate understanding of system networking in order to support the network team and troubleshoot issues Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with out-of-the-box solutions Be proactive in providing feedback and be enthusiastic in sharing your knowledge with others Capable of prioritizing your own tasks and potentially the tasks of others while making sure deadlines are met Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table: Any relevant technical certifications (i.e., CKA, RHCSA, AWS, etc.) 8 years in or supporting a 24/7 Operations Environment 8 years of experience in a datacenter or telecommunications environment Experience with the following technologies: Kubernetes / Docker / OpenShift Advanced skills with Linux based environments and bash shell scripting for server deployment and administration Java / Python / Perl XML / JSON / SQL Atlassian management/software development tools: Jira / Git / Bitbucket / Crucible / Confluence Experience using and administering Gitlab Micro services architectures Gov and non-Gov AWS cloud environments
