POSITION SUMMARY The Director, Marketing Planning is responsible for comprehensive market planning, site selection, and site analysis for all CKE Restaurant concepts. Responsibility includes the development of strategies for all new, relocated, and remodeled restaurants to maximize market share and profitability. Coordinates with the leadership to develop a network of restaurants and communicate strategic initiatives to Real Estate Directors and team members as needed. Ensures all submitted and analyzed site locations are in-line with the approved short- and long-range strategic restaurant plans. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS May perform any or all of the following duties:
Oversees Market Planning Research Initiatives. Utilizes advanced Market Planning analytical tools to support creation and modification of urban strategies. Conducts statistical correlation of site characteristics to sales/profitability, impacts of urbanicity on multi-year results, development of restaurant specific site grades and corresponding expected performance.
Reviews all sites analyzed by the Market Planning team and provides direction and recommendations prior to Real Estate Committee. Works with Real Estate Directors to provide education on key success variables and provides feedback on restaurants deemed unsuitable for potential locations to improve quality of submissions. Actively reviews analysis post approval and post opening to understand abnormalities and document key learnings.
Tracks and measures all ongoing projects and communicate status to teams, seeking assistance and direction as necessary. Initiates and leads process & methodology improvement projects that enhance our understanding of customers, competitors and drivers of sales and profitability success. Makes presentations to senior management and developing long range planning for assigned area of responsibility.
Responsible for researching "Best in Class" applications, developing relationships, and ensuring that external sales models, optimization models, competitor models, and site analysis data models are updated and accurate predictors of success. Takes leadership role in defining department needs, creating and or recommending software purchases, and implementing all technology focused initiatives.
Implements and maintains technology and application improvements for use throughout the Market Planning team.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/CORE COMPETENCIES
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, or a related field. MBA Preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
8 years' work experience in site selection and GIS analysis within the retail or restaurant industry.
Advanced GIS skills and experience using industry standard GIS software and mapping tools
Specific experience with location planning, traffic drivers, and customer segmentation
Familiarity with mobile GPS location data platforms and application to site selection
Knowledge of financial metrics and accounting concepts (P&L Statements, Cash Flow Analysis, etc.)
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint, Access)
Experience manipulating large data sets using scripts/coding language
Ability to think analytically/spatially and make recommendations based on limited information
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills; effectively communicate with Senior Management
Able to multi-task, gather data from multiple sources, prioritize, and interpret data.
Comfortable working under tight deadlines to provide quality deliverables
Dedicated team player, customer service driven, capable of working independently, and self-motivated
