Southwest Allen County Schools is Hiring an Instructional Assistant - ESL Near Fort Wayne, IN
PurposeSupport students’ understanding and use of the English language as they develop academic skills as required by State Standards. Support will be provided through guided practice and skill review individually and in a small group setting. Assist students with group projects. Assist the teacher by informally checking students’ academic skills and prepare instructional materials as requested by the teacher of ESL services.
QualificationsCompletion of two years of study (60 hours) at an institution of higher education or possession of an associate’s (or higher) degree is preferred. Previous experience as a classroom assistant desirable. Effective communication skills. Ability to take direction. Initiative and dependability in carrying out assignments. Patience and genuine interest in education of students. Awareness and respect for student diversity. Clerical skills, flexibility and confidentiality required. Training for this position can be implemented upon hiring.
