The Kitchen Assistant reports directly to the Chef and is responsible for assisting with food preparation and overall cleanliness of the kitchen. This position is 25 hours a week, is classified as Non-Exempt and does not come with a benefits package. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assists Chef with preparing and storing food.
· Dishwashing and overall cleanliness of the kitchen.
· Adheres to standard operating procedures for food quality and food handling.
· Keeps Registered Food Handler’s certificate current.
· Staff’s kitchen during Passover
· Performs other duties as assigned by chef.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
· High School degree
· Food/restaurant/kitchen experience preferred.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry items while walking.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
· Demonstrates an energetic and positive attitude.
· Reliable, dependable, team player.
· Professional in appearance, manner, and tone
· Able and willing to take direction.
It is expected that the Kitchen Assistant will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
