York Country Day School seeks a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Director of Middle and Upper School Admissions for the 2024-2025 school year. The Assistant Director of MS/US Admissions is an integral part of the school’s administrative team and is responsible for managing all facets of the admissions process in the school’s effort to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and dynamic student population.
Manages student selection and enrollment. Represents the school to current and prospective students, parents, and the community. Educates prospective students and parents about the school, studies enrollment trends, responds to inquiries, and interviews and screens candidates. Works with volunteer parents, former parents, and alumni to recruit new students. Oversees retention of current students and conducts research on student matriculation and attrition. Directs data tracking for strategic enrollment management.The Assistant Director of Admissions will:
  • Contribute to the mission and standards of the school by recruiting and retaining students who will benefit from the school’s unique culture and programmatic offerings and contribute to the school community.
  • Formulate forward-thinking, strategic application to admission and enrollment policies.
  • Report directly to the Director of Admissions and serve as a liaison to the board of trustees regarding admissions data and reports.
  • Coordinate four essential elements to ensure a competitive admissions process and the long-term health of the student body and broader alumni/ae base:
    1. admission management (the tracking of prospective students from applicant to enrollment and beyond)
    2. student retention
    3. research (analyzing data that affect enrollment)
    4. convey curriculum and programming
  • Develop a strategic recruitment and communication plan to reach targeted audiences, including identifying and implementing best-practice web-based technologies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Admissions and the Business office.
  • Understand the culture and climate of the school and the broader educational environment.
  • Foster high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, alumni/ae, parents, and students throughout the admissions process.
  • Be sensitive to economic, cultural, and other issues present in the enrollment of a diverse student body.
  • Communicate clearly and enthusiastically to all staff and prospective students
  • Bachelor’s Degree preference in Education or an advanced degree in Education
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Education 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Decision making skills
  • Advanced computer knowledge/MS Office
  • Ability to communicate curriculum outcomes to colleagues, alumni/ae, parents, and students 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as an independent contributor
  • Interpret data and create data sets for analysis 
  • Able to foster high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, alumni/ae, parents, and students throughout the admissions process.
