Bradford Soap Works Inc is Hiring a New Business Development Executive Near Warwick, RI

Job Function: The successful candidate will be responsible for new market development and capture within the personal care industry, delivering sustainable and profitable growth for the company. This position is responsible for prospecting, vetting and qualifying new business opportunities within personal care industries and customers, maximizing the value proposition and coordinating the follow-through needed to close new business.

A key responsibility of the New Business Development Executive is the development of the pipeline of new business opportunities coming into the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company’s competitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

New Business Development

  1. Prospect and aggressively pursue new business / customers – a true hunter – by networking, cold calling, and other means of generating interest from potential customers and turn this into increased business.
  2. Identify new opportunities for growth and close them. Execute. Hit the numbers while developing and creating a pipeline for future growth.
  3. Leverage industry expertise, relationships, portfolio knowledge and company’s value proposition to fully qualify and execute opportunities.
  4. Identify strategic partnerships, build relationships and quickly drive to unmet customer needs, working to identify products and processes needed to meet those needs.
  5. Meet potential new customers by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  6. Identify decision makers within the customer organization.
  7. Plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential customers to do business with the company. Develop proposals that address the customer’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  8. Participate in value-based pricing of the solution.
  9. Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
  10. Manage strategic relationships, cultivate new alliances, and monitor competitive activity.
  11. Conduct and understand market influencers to drive competitive advantage in sectors defined as prime areas of interest. Connects business concepts to generate a winnable strategy.
  12. Utilize and maintain CRM tool, to track account progress/sales activity.
  13. Effectively works in team environment to align business goals.
  14. Interpret and report changing market dynamics in identified sectors to support winnable strategies on business initiatives.
  15. Must be capable of advocating all chemistry, science and technologies relevant to their Customer Project
  16. Support internal and external opportunity management negotiations (i.e., pricing, process, resources, timelines, etc.)
  17. Work in unison with CRO to develop and implement processes and procedures to establish clear timelines, meet client requirements, and suggest solutions for obstacles.
  18. Work cross-functionally with internal colleagues to ensure opportunities are qualified and complete solutions are scoped, priced, and scheduled appropriately.
  19. Responsible for developing strong relationships with contacts in the accounts they are designated to handle. Must be comfortable transferring newly established accounts to other Account executives in the organization to create room to identify additional new customers to pursue.

Targeted Objectives 

  1. New Product Development: Working with customer requests, identifies and coordinates development of new product lines in collaboration with the Innovation group. 
  2. Customer Service: Become involved as needed with Bradford’s Customer Service and Operations groups if/when customer’s Service needs are not being met to the customer’s expectations.
  3. Sales Forecasting: Provides Sales forecast information to the Chief Revenue Officer in order to build and re-forecast company Sales plans.
  4. Complete call reports within 72 hours of a customer visit and provide analytical information as requested periodically by the Chief Revenue Officer.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or commensurate experience required in aggressive selling environment. 
  2. Minimum five (5) years of experience in a related sales field, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, Beauty, Health preferably with experience in contract manufacturing
  3. Knowledge of Personal Care/Health & Beauty products and/or ingredients is necessary. 
  4. Experience in managing relationships with key accounts and strategic partners
  5. Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in Hubspot is preferred.
  6. Ability to effectively and professionally present in front of small and large groups 
  7. Capable of exercising considerable judgment on complex situations requiring creativity and unique ideas. 
  8. Able to communicate effectively with all management levels. Capable of utilizing diplomacy while negotiating favorable business agreements. 
  9. Capable of functioning with little supervision and directed by broad guidelines. 
  10. General knowledge of company policies with specific knowledge of sales and marketing policies. 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  1. Normal office environment and remote office settings
  2. Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments 
  3. Travel related environments, car, airplanes, hotels. 
  4. Expected travel 50%, proximity to major Metropolitan airport preferred.
