Maui Economic Opportunity is Hiring a Fiscal Clerk Near Wailuku, HI

SUMMARY:

Provide overall fiscal support and serve as support and primary backup for accounts payable. Serve as a receptionist to the Fiscal Department and performs a variety of clerical and/or routine receptionist tasks in an office environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Act as receptionist to include, but not limited to, greet visitors, give information to, or direct callers to the proper departments.

· Maintain proper accounting procedures for control of all accounting records and reports.

· File cash disbursements, cash receipts and general journal batches and verify documentation and signatures.

· Input and record purchase orders.

· Assist with verification of data entry information for timesheets and as otherwise assigned.

· Assist with all general clerical functions, and general support of the fiscal staff, including deposit preparation.

· Order and maintain equipment and supplies.

· Follow-up outstanding receipt listing on a semi-monthly basis.

· Track outstanding receipts and attach to voucher.

· Mail-out bills and payroll checks.

· Serve as primary backup for Accounts Payable Specialist.

· Perform processing of accounts payable transactions as assigned, and ensure finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.

· Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services as assigned.

· Gather data, perform data entry, verify computations, files invoices, issues checks, and execute all fiscal requirements for accounts payable, as assigned.

· Run daily errands to the post office, bank, transportation, and other destinations as assigned.

· Provide and maintain a high level of service ensuring that staff and client’s needs are met.

· Understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.

· Adhere to MEO’s Standards of Conduct, Professional Standards, policies, and procedures.

· Regular attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· General knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.

· Working knowledge of clerical duties and responsibilities.

· Ability to manage many projects at a given time and meet deadlines and prioritize workload.

· Basic typing skills and the ability to use standard office machines.

· Working knowledge of computer applications to include, Word and Excel and data entry.

· Ability to work varied shifts, which may occasionally include nights and weekends.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Associate's degree from two-year College or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as payroll regulations and procedure manuals.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

· Ability to interact, relate, and have compassion for persons with mental and/or physical disabilities and those who are less fortunate.

· Ability handle and keep composure in situations where employees, clients may become hostile and demanding.

· Performs well under pressure.

May require a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.
