Louisa County Public Schools is Hiring a Car Mechanic Near Virginia, VA

To provide mechanical and technical diagnostic work in the repair and maintenance of LCPS vehicles and equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Diagnoses problems and performs preventative maintenance and major repairs to cars, trucks and buses.
  • Repairs problems relating to fuel injection, gas and diesel engines, computerized engine controls, manual and automatic transmissions, clutches, suspension, steering, brakes (hydraulic and air), truck hydraulics, and attachments.
  • Diagnosis and makes repairs to equipment.
  • Performs Virginia State Inspections.
  • Replaces worn and broken parts.
  • Replaces fluids.
  • Enters maintenance data information into computerized system.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs to shop equipment.
  • Performs general shop maintenance.
  • Cleans shop.
  • Assists in identification and ordering of needed parts.
  • Picks up and delivers vehicles for outside repair.
  • Responds to after-hours calls.
  • Repairs small engines (lawnmowers, weed eaters, chain saws, gas generators, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Hold or be immediately eligible for a Virginia State Inspectors license. 
  • Good DMV driving record. 
  • Hold or be willing to get a CDL license with school bus endorsement. 
  • Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with school personnel.
