JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Psychologist to conduct psychological evaluations and testing for VA Police Officers. The role involves initial, annual, and incident-based evaluations to determine the suitability of individuals to perform the duties of a police officer, including the ability to carry a firearm.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

• Conduct psychological assessments, including interviews and standardized testing.
• Prepare detailed evaluation reports on the emotional and mental stability of police officers.
• Perform annual re-evaluations and incident-based evaluations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with VA and federal regulations regarding psychological evaluations.
• Collaborate with VA facility staff to schedule and conduct evaluations.

SCHEDULE OF WORK

• Full-time position.
• Flexible working hours, with a combination of face-to-face and virtual evaluations.

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE

• Evaluations will be conducted at various VA Healthcare Systems, including Finger Lakes HCS, Hudson Valley HCS, Western New York HCS, Syracuse VAMC, and Stratton VA Albany VAMC.
• Some evaluations may be conducted off-site within a 30-mile radius of the VA facilities.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

• Contract period begins on July 1, 2024, and ends on June 30, 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-approved program.
• At least five years of postgraduate experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.
• Experience in performing psychological assessments on police officers and/or police officer applicants.
• Licensure as a psychologist in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
