Canine Rehabilitation of Orange County is Hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician Near Santa Ana, CA

This is a great position for RVT’s who would like a break from hectic hospital work and want to get back to building relationships with the animals we work with. We do not sell any products, prescribe medications, or operate diagnostic equipment. Because our ability to help our patients depends on building trust with them, we avoid any painful or scary experiences as much as possible. That means NO nail trims, NO anal gland expressions.... you get the idea! We don't even wear scrubs so that the patients don't associate us with scary hospital visits. You DO get the opportunity to learn more about the causes of and the rehabilitation/healing of various physical injuries and conditions. You must be comfortable working with dogs of all sizes/breeds. Knowledge in anatomy, nutrition, pharmacology, and behavior are a must!

Our RVT's are cross-trained for Front Desk duties as well so that other team members can jump in and help for either role.

Responsibilities include:

  • communication & education with clients regarding their pet’s medical status
  • briefly evaluating patients at check in, bringing concerns to DVM/CCRP
  • various therapy modalities to aid in healing, pain relief, and building strength such as hydrotherapy, laser therapy, e-stim, ultrasound therapy, acupuncture and lots more!
  • phone calls: scheduling consultations and return rehab sessions, obtaining medical records
  • scheduling appts, payment processing, balancing books at the end of each day
  • laundry and cleaning of facility
  • light restraining for exams and acupuncture
  • keeping patients comfortable and clean
  • charting and filing
  • maintenance of equipment

Knowledge of common canine medical conditions and vital signs is needed to assess each patient’s condition at every visit. You will need to be able to identify if a patient is capable of safely completing their treatment as prescribed. We work with dogs of all ages and of varying medical conditions including cardiac/respiratory conditions, cancer, arthritis, pre-and post-orthopedic surgery, neurological conditions, congenital conditions, obesity, atrophy, and more. Each patient has their good and bad days and it is necessary to be able to identify these so as not to over do it with the patient’s treatments/exercises as well as alerting owners to any developing problems.

Since we have zero tolerance for workplace drama, cliques, or any other behavior that would divide our team, we are able to maintain a comfortable and trusting work environment for our tight-knit team. We have a blast working with each other and the dogs and there are always new things to be learned.

This position includes lots of walking and getting down to and up from the floor, some jogging, navigating the obstacle course, and some lifting (up to 40-50lb, anything over requires assistance from another team member).

If you are interested in the position, please contact us with your resume and a quick blurb about yourself and why you have applied. Wages are hourly and fairly adjusted pending RVT experience. We are closed on weekends and holidays!

Veterinary Technician is a legally protected title in California and we take this very seriously. Please do not apply if you are not CURRENTLY licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician in California. Applicants presenting themselves as a Technician but lacking licensure will be declined.
