Lodging Research LLC is a small, well-established research company serving a prestigious group of clients involved in the ownership, development, design, franchising and management of hotel and resort properties. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team as a Development Research Associate.
Commercial real estate is a complex and interesting field, and those with interest, training and/or experience in the legal aspects of real estate entitlement and transactions are ideal candidates for the Development Research Associate position.
The candidate selected for this position will receive initial and ongoing training in multiple facets of the real development process, allowing for mastery of the Research Associate position and growth to higher levels of employment within the company. The successful candidate will play an important role within our small research team and make a significant contribution to the research products provided to our clients.
The Research Associate will become an expert in the following areas:

The position requires a candidate with sharp analytical skills, the ability to learn and master multiple content management systems, and the ability to draw upon multiple sources of information to reach reliable conclusions about the location and status of new projects.
Long-term success and satisfaction in this position is assisted by a natural curiosity, critical thinking ability and a dedication to accuracy. Those who thrive on the discovery of new information and are adept at solving complex problems will find satisfaction in the work of a Development Researcher. In turn, those who succeed in this work help us meet our clients’ needs for accurate, reliable business intelligence.
Often, the work of a Development Research Associate is like solving a mystery or assembling a puzzle. You begin with limited information, then set out to find other facts that help to make sense of the mystery or make the puzzle more complete. Because of the unique nature of this work, the position is open to all who can demonstrate certain key traits regardless of educational background.
Education Requirements
We value curiosity and critical thinking, not credentials. If earning a college degree helped you to think clearly and reason well, you might be a good fit for this position. But not all critical thinkers went to college, and not all college graduates are critical thinkers. For that reason, we will consider any candidate with at least a high school degree and a strong work ethic. Those with real estate paralegal training or experience will be favorably considered.
Other Requirements
Though not required, experience in one or more of these areas will prove helpful.
Work Location
This is an on-site position with the opportunity for future remote work. The on-site location is a dedicated office space on the ground floor of a private residence. After minimum of 24 months of employment, the ability to work remotely will be considered subject to excellent job performance and a conducive remote work environment.
