Job Description

We are currently seeking a Controller with knowledge of the construction field, QuickBooks accounting system, Timberline/Sage 300, Peachtree, excellent project management skills, and extremely high attention to detail. This is an onsite position located in Rockville, MD for the first 90 days, then hybrid with work from home available 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Managing the full cycle of accounting activities for the company
• Managing the company budget and product purchasing
• Processing the accounts payable and receivable
• Processing subcontractors’ payments
• Collating and entering vendor expenses
• Invoicing clients and customers
• Maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger
• Processing employee timesheets
• Managing the payroll system (including PTO request)
• Submission of payroll
• Preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements
• Handling and maintaining subcontractors’ required documents
• Reconciliation of banking accounts
• Processing of all company receipts
• Providing monthly cost reports to APM
• Providing any necessary information to owner about accounts
• Maintaining all licensures
• Preparing renewals of business insurance
• Preparing insurance audit documents for submission
• Preparing 1099-MISC for all subcontractors and mailing out
• Updating company handbooks and internal documents when necessary
• Maintaining organization
• Managing office supplies
• Filing
• Answering phone calls
• Assisting with any other needs encompassed in the role

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of experience as a controller in the construction industry
• 5 years of experience with QuickBooks
• 5 years of experience with Timberline/Sage 300
• 5 years of experience with Peachtree
• Heavy experience in being able to catch discrepancies and suspicious charges
• Experience preparing financial statements
• Highly proficient in Excel and Word
• Proficient with Procore software for document uploads
• Ability to work with a strict deadline
• High attention to detail
• Great communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Bookkeeping certification
