This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising the Accounting and Financial activities of the Finance Department to ensure accurate and effective Accounting operations. This includes motivating and managing the departmental staff and giving general direction to the Department on specific issues/problems as well as assisting in reviewing and reconciling employee problems, assigning, reviewing and planning the work of the Department, maintaining departmental standards, allocating personnel, selecting new employees and making recommendations regarding employee discipline as required. The position regularly advises other County Departments and Agencies within the County on required financial policies, practices and procedures. This position regularly interacts with State/Federal agencies and attends Council/Budget meetings as required.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree, CPA, or equivalent experience. CPA and/or GFOA designation is desirable.
Requires five years of progressively responsible experience in financial or accounting management and reporting.
