DESCRIPTION: Direct and manage the overall program of music for the district. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular Band activities and ensure compliance with all state and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition. The Band program is well established.
GOAL: To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and develop skills as a performer and as one who appreciates and enjoys music.
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate in Music Education (JX/JQ) K-12

Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of children in the age groups assigned. Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of current educational research especially in the field of music education. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology. Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student-learning styles. Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement. Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn. Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.
RATE OF PAY: Per the Master Agreement
