POSITION TITLE : Community Coordinator (Housing)

Salary : $17 per hour up to 15 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY
As an integral element of Fuller’s commitment to whole-life formation, Community Coordinators (CCs) actively nurture Christ-centered communities for Fuller’s student-residents and their families.
While living alongside other residents who are a part of their community, CCs create opportunities for residents to share their unique life experiences in an intercultural, intergenerational community environment.
While maintaining a commitment to Fuller’s Community Standards, CCs also serve as critical liaisons to the Housing and Residential Services department in the areas of community news and care, building maintenance, neighbor or roommate conflict resolution, building / unit status reporting, and emergency preparedness and response.
Community Coordinators are responsible for delivering the highest level of service and creating the strongest sense of belonging for every student-resident who joins Fuller’s rigorous and formative learning community and is assigned to their care.
Service Period
Community coordinators will be assigned to manage one building and will be responsible for all residents and floors (this position no longer has two CCs per building).
Positions are from July 1, - June 30, . Continued service throughout the year depends upon successfully completing job requirements.
Due to the nature of the position and the need for continuity, Residential Community staff needs to be available with minimal breaks during crucial periods, especially during the summer and winter breaks.
The academic calendar is not a "time off" calendar. You are eligible for "time off" throughout the year (July 1, - June 30, ), no more than two weeks at once.
Average hours are 10-12, depending on the size of the complex.
Support / Reporting Structure
CCs report to a Lead Community Coordinator (LCC) and meet monthly with their team of Coordinators for support, troubleshooting, planning community building, and crisis assistance.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent work / life experience.
Read and adhere to Fullers’ Community Standards :
New, incoming, and / or current Fuller Theological Seminary student or spouse of a Fuller student.
Consideration is given to applicants who either are or who have been :
Involved in community life, particularly within a complex.
Students must be enrolled in a total of 24 academic units from July 1, - June 30, .
Fuller students living off-campus who are willing to move to on-campus housing
Current or new Fuller housing residents.
Able to work and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
Experience or interest in any of the following areas : Residence Life, missions, church planting, community development, student development, small groups, spiritual formation, cross-cultural experience, pastoral care, etc.
Desire to serve the Fuller Community through providing connections within individual communities.
Interpersonal skills for encouraging healthy group dynamics and team partnerships / conflict and crisis resolution skills.
Expected to work collaboratively with other Fuller Departments : Building Services, International Services Office, etc.
Ability to respond to emergencies and crises.
Be a resident or student in good standing with the institution and Housing department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate interaction among residents for the purpose of creating a community
Respond to resident needs, requests, and emergencies (which may include late nights / early mornings and weekends) by participating in an on-call rotation during the evening and weekends.
On-call coverage requires CCs to be within 20 minutes of campus while they are on duty and to answer and return all missed calls to the on-call phone.
On-call CCs will also be required to perform weekly on-call rounds (replacing area coordinator duties),walk the community in the evenings to secure the premises and buildings.
Provide residents with resources as appropriate, such as chaplains and counselors.
Plan and implement community-oriented events, following guidelines as directed by the Director of Housing.
Build rapport with residents and their families.
Participate and assist in the planning and coordinating of Welcome Week.
Work collaboratively with other community coordinators to plan joint housing events.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Communication with incoming residents, introducing yourself, position, and coordinating their arrival.
Provide additional support for incoming international students.
Welcome and orient new incoming residents.
Send out quarterly Community Newsletters.
Sending resident emails as tasked by LCC and Housing Staff.
Complete ALL required administrative tasks on time (i.e. reports, newsletters, community rosters, etc.), including distributing all flyers and forms provided by office staff in a timely manner.
Assume responsibility for the proper use and physical conditions of the facilities
Ensure all maintenance and housekeeping needs of assigned buildings and public areas are reported promptly to Building Services.
Conduct weekly regular floor inspections to ensure building codes and policies are in compliance (ie. Hallways cleared, packages picked up, etc.).
Complete room inventories prior to resident arrival and administer check-out procedures for student rooms.
Serve as communication liaison between community residents, Housing staff, and Building services staff.
Submit maintenance Work Orders (Submitted within 24 hours of the incident and follow-up until resolved)
Participate and contribute as a member of the Housing Staff team
Attend and participate fully in all CC training sessions of Summer, Fall, and Spring Training.
Attend bi-weekly staff meetings as directed by the Lead Community Coordinator.
Meet monthly with your LCC to receive direction, support, and accountability.
Provide coverage and participate in the duty rotation schedule each month.
Complete weekly reports, surveys, and assigned paperwork in a thorough, timely manner.
Provide duty / coverage for holidays and breaks.
Mediate conflicts between roommates.
Respond to resident issues and respond to emergencies appropriately.
Participate in and facilitate emergency response training and drills.
Complete Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training and make the required CSA reports to the appropriate departments as a mandated reporter.
