Hayward Holdings Inc. (NYSE "HAYW") is the largest manufacturer of residential swimming pool equipment in the world, with a significant presence in the commercial pool market that is continuously growing. Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. This position is based in North Kingstown, RI. This role provides human resources support to the VP of HR. Serves as the first point of contact for production and Operation employees, supervisors, and managers to provide counsel, coaching, and support on safety, HR fundamentals, and employee-related concerns across a multi-shift, high volume manufacturing facility. Responsible for all aspects of human resources, including safety administration, recruitment and staffing, employee relations, and benefits administration.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing and implementing all HR policies and procedures as they apply specifically to the Rhode Island facility.
  • Makes recommendations to management to improve the organization's employment policies, procedures, and practices to standardize across other facilities.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures, and practices at 100% compliance to promote an accountable, ethical and compliant work environment.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legislation and employment law related to employees in NC. Ensures that local policies comply with Federal and State laws.
  • Prepares job descriptions for production positions and coordinates with corporate Total Rewards team to determine appropriate salary grade and bonus level according to compensation guidelines and policies.
  • Leads full-cycle recruitment effort for non-exempt openings, including sourcing qualified applicants, evaluating applicant qualifications, conducting screening interviews, administering assessments, extending offers of employment, and conducting reference and background checks.
  • Develops a plan and implements college recruiting, technical school recruiting, and apprenticeship program recruitment for the facility, including establishing relationships with institutions that provide education in functional areas pertinent to the company's needs.
  • Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations; communicates feedback to relevant parties; prepares reports and makes recommendations to reduce turnover.
  • Analyzes company compensation policies applicable to local employees about government wage and hour regulations and prevailing rates for similar jobs in comparable industries or geographic areas and recommends changes as appropriate to establish and maintain competitive salaries.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase engagement, productivity, and retention.
  • Conducts effective, thorough investigations, including gathering, documenting, preserving, and analyzing all available information and evidence and making recommendations regarding disciplinary action.
  • Manages production employee appraisal process and coordinates timely completion of appraisals and compensation changes.
  • Reviews proposed local salary recommendations to ensure conformance with established guidelines and policies and ensure appropriate approvals are made.
  • Responsible for coordinating HR and safety-related training for employees. Maintains records that comply with OSHA safety training regulations.
  • Plans all special events for employees, including but not limited to summer events, cookouts, benefit fairs, parties, retirement events, etc.
  • Manages the following programs –tuition reimbursement, fitness reimbursement, nurse line, and attendance programs.
  • Attends unemployment hearings and investigates and prepares EEOC to charge responses.
  • Reports initial claims and follows up on the progress of all open Worker's Compensation cases and manages Return-to-Work program for applicable candidates.
  • Serves as a member of the management team, representing Human Resources, including supporting the plant's Policy Deployment and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintains and protects confidential data with the utmost scrutiny, judgment, and care.
  • Supports additional projects as requested by the Human Resources organization.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have experience using an HRIS such as Ceridian, ADP, PeopleSoft, etc. Familiarity with Workday is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal employment law.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and external contacts at all levels in the organization.
  • Experience presenting training programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and employee relations experience.
  • Highest level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or another related field or experience equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources with a focus on high volume manufacturing.
  • At least two years of prior supervisory experience required.
  • SHRM certification (PHR or SPHR) is a definite plus.
The position takes place mainly within an office environment where the noise level is typically average. Requires daily exposure to the manufacturing plant to interact with employees; while in the manufacturing area, protective glasses are needed, and noise levels can be moderate.
