JOB TITLE: MEDICAL ASSISTANT FOR DERMATOLOGY PRACTICE SPECIALIZING IN MOHS SURGERY

LOCATION: NAPERVILLE, IL

JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME

ABOUT ORSINI SURGICAL DERMATOLOGY:

Amy Orsini, MD and Maria J. Quintanilla-Dieck, MD are board-certified dermatologists and ACGME Fellowship-trained/board-certified Mohs Surgeons, with specialized training and expertise in treating high-risk skin cancer and surgical reconstruction. Our office provides the highest quality patient care in the field of dermatology concentrating on Mohs surgery, surgical dermatology, and the treatment of skin cancers. Our clinic is known for its highly skilled and compassionate team, state-of-the-art facilities, and commitment to patient-centered care. We are seeking a professional Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team and help us continue to provide excellent service and care to our patients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Medical Assistant in our practice, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our office, focusing on both clinical and administrative duties. You will work closely with our Mohs surgeons to prepare patients for surgery, assist during surgical procedures, and ensure efficient post-operative care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist physicians during Mohs surgery and other surgical procedures, using sterile techniques.

- Sterilize and prepare medical instruments and equipment for surgical trays.

- Clean and organize surgical rooms.

- Wound care; including suture removal and dressings.

- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.

- Explain treatment procedures and physicians’ instructions to patients in office/on phone as needed.

- Assist patients in filling out forms and scheduling appointments.

- Enter medical histories and prescriptions into EMR.

- Update and maintain patient records and documentation.

- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment.

- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.

- Fulfill responsibilities as assigned by MD’s and management.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.

- Prior Mohs experience is preferred.

- Proven experience as a medical assistant; experience in dermatology or surgical care is a plus.

- Knowledge of medical terminology, practices, and protocols related to Mohs surgery and dermatology.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. (in person and on the phone)

- Compassion and a positive, caring attitude towards patients.

- Ability to manage a fast-paced environment and multitask with high attention to detail.
