Overview

We are looking for a hybrid Category Manager! In this role you will do category management for castings and forging, as well as some fabrication and machining. You can be based near Milwaukee, WI or in Longview TX. This position is onsite 2 days a week, and remote 3 days. 
This role is with a large manufacturer of heavy equipment. You will interact with suppliers, supply chain, accounting, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and more in this role. 

Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing activities
• Identify and qualify Suppliers for castings and forging
• Develop the commodity sourcing strategy
• Analyze global markets, raw materials trends, & technology, value chain analysis
• Perform high-level global category & cost analysis
• Develop category strategies 
• Manage, maintain and update all Supplier Contracts
• Provide direction and support to Suppliers
• Support cost reduction and goals 
• Ongoing evaluation of the supply base along with quality manager 
• Up to 15% travel to suppliers to support business goals related to opportunities, qualifications, efficiency, or supply chain or quality issues

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Metallurgy, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Business is highly preferred.
• Experience in Purchasing, Materials or Engineering background with specialized knowledge on focused group of commodities can also be considered.
