What You Will Enjoy Doing

Main Purpose of the Job:

Maintain a high level of service and ensure the most optimized cost for domestic and international freight.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining new transport lanes:
    • Work with Sales, business development, procurement, project management departments on new customer project bids for freight and shuttle pricing.
    • Benchmark competitive offers and negotiate terms and prices with all appropriate partners (carriers, 3PL, brokers, Alpla plants in NOAM or beyond, customers).
    • Implement new lanes in full alignment with Sales and the Alpla shipping plant teams - provide all details, documentation, and necessary instructions.
  • Train and support appropriate members of plant teams, TC, and project managers:
    • Provide training and instructions for all users, so that they can schedule, track, and control freight.
    • Facilitate communication between our partners to understand the business complexity and help to build the most efficient organization.
  • Regularly review the service quality with the Alpla teams and our partners.
    • Assist in resolving issues (incl. damage / package & equipment with insurance companies), build and follow action plans.
  • Manage transport tracking (incl. status report and ETA for import/export), cost control, billing process, and quote requests.Assure training and supervision of the associate team members, evaluate workload and resources (incl. knowledge and tools) to improve efficiency of the work of the team.
  • Provide reporting on performance (carriers, 3pl, brokers) to the Senior Regional Logistics Manager and manufacturing directors, keep close control of actual cost vs budget cost for freight.Stay updated about freight market trends and proactively suggest new options, tools, or other ideas to improve performance (incl. environmental impact) and benefits.
  • Domestic freight management, procedures, billing and tenders.
  • Assure compliance to regulation (customs tariff codes, paperwork for domestic and international freight, freight procedures)
  • Maintain database for the list of carriers and contact, and lane pricing for US plants and major city to city pricing.Seek for and evaluate new partners.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Regional Logistics team to improve process efficiency related to freight management.
  • External Warehousing transportation
    • Assist plant teams with sourcing external warehouses as needed , loading/unloading fork fees, and shuttle cost.Control bills, audit performance and track cost deviation to budget.
