Dane County owns and operates the County’s landfills, household hazardous waste collection site, a construction and demolition recycling facility, various other recycling programs, and a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production and offload facility. The Department’s goals include increased waste minimization, diversion, recycling, and beneficial use and the intent is to achieve this with development of a sustainable business park, or Sustainability Campus. The Campus will have additional opportunities for recycling and community engagement. Our project managers are responsible for a wide variety of project and programs including technical engineering assistance to our operations and execution and oversight of capital projects related to the landfill, campus and recycling activities.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Provide technical engineering and project management support to a team of staff performing operations and maintenance (O&M) of the landfill, recycling, and compost facilities.
- Lead and assist with diagnosis and corrective actions of adverse operating conditions and equipment malfunctions, including emergency repairs, associated with these systems.
- Plan, organize, oversee and supervise the work of internal and external parties involved in the design, construction, and execution of construction and maintenance projects.
- Develop and issue bid specifications, construction drawings, requests for quotes, bids, and proposals, contracts, contract change orders, and contract amendments. Actively recruit and hire for consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Act as the County’s project liaison. Perform surveying, technical engineering oversight and construction documentation for landfill cover and cell construction projects to ensure project specifications are met.
- Prepare construction documentation reports.
- Communicate with regulators and inspectors.

Pay: $93,000.00 - $124,000.00 per year
