Position Summary:

Coordinates administrative and technical operations of the Clinical Laboratory in accordance with strategic objectives.Assures the validity of all Quality Control and technical procedures. Must be a focal point for problem solving in matters relating to personnel, policies and procedures. Identify and facilitate the development of procedures necessary to meet or exceed the needs of our patients, physicians and other customers.Consults with physicians in matters relating to the area of their expertise.Assures lab compliance with all accrediting agencies, external regulations, billing requirements and with all lab and hospital policies.Ensures that the age-specific needs of all patients, from the neonate to the geriatric patient are met and included in all policies, procedures and educational material relating to the area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, Medical Lab Science orchemical, physical, or biological science and graduate of an NAACLS approved laboratory training program as applicable to the position. May also qualify under route 2, 3, or 4 of the ASCP Board of Certification. Proven strong clinical skills and at least five year’s experience in Blood Bank and/or Microbiology. Must be certified as a Medical Technologist or a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and hold an SBB certification or SM certification by the ASCP or SBB certification eligible and successful completion of SBB certification within one year of employment.
