Holyoke Public Schools is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Holyoke, MA

Position OverviewThis individual will be responsible for developing a great HR function that delivers extraordinary service to the district and serve as a liaison for all HR functions for designated schools and departments. The position is a great fit for someone who embraces continuous improvement and innovation, is accomplished at developing high performing teams, and embraces the challenge of finding ways to work smarter and more cost-efficiently. This position will also work closely with teachers, school and district leadership, community partners, and the finance department.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Develop, recommend, and facilitate personnel policies, procedures and practices that result in effective and efficient organizational operations.
  • Identifies and clarifies problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling hiring managers/ supervisors and employees
  • Design and manage an HR dashboard to track and report out on key performance and service metrics
  • Complete audits of personnel data, systems, and organizational policies/ procedures and make recommendations to leadership on best practices, areas of improvement, and system upgrades
  • Participate collaboratively as an effective team member within and between departments and other organizations
  • Establish and maintain high trust relationships
Tactical Work
  • Manage the day-to-day HR operations (benefits, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, etc)
  • Assist with recruitment and staffing logistic
  • Provide guidance to principals, and school and district leadership on employee matters and other human resource functions
  • Automate and optimize systems/processes/workflows
Customer Service and Communications
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by serving as an exemplary for the district’s vision, values, and goals
  • Works with a variety of stakeholders to assist with all human resource functions including but not limited to: Recruitment, Hiring, Benefits, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Compliance, Records Management, and Data Reporting
  • Communicates and maintains positive relationships with a wide array of constituents including principals, support staff, leadership teams, vendors, and community members
  • Acting as a liaison to schools and departments by offering consultation and support on best practices, procurement, financial management, applicable laws, regulations, policies and processes
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2-5 years of related experience required
  • Proven ability to maintain employee confidence and protect department operations by ensuring confidentiality
  • Highly-motivated and self-directed learner
  • Deep expertise and knowledge of human resources best practices and legal/ compliance requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects at once and produce high quality work
  • Ability to break down complex information into comprehensive parts, ask questions, synthesize and analyze
  • Ability to collaboratively develop and implement departmental project plans that align to the district strategic plan
  • Sound judgment; ability to handle sensitive employment information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills required to work with a broad group of stakeholders with different interests and needs
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred)
  • Experience in nonprofit, public, or K-12 education (preferred)
  • Experience using and managing MUNIS or other HRIS System (preferred)
