Position SummaryProvide human resources services to management, staff and the public in areas such as recruitment, selection and employment activities, employee relations, employee benefits, classification, compensation, training and development, human resources information systems and records management. Develops, recommends, establishes and communicates human resources services, programs and procedures which recognize and respond to the different needs and concerns of La Posada.
Essential Functions
  • Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in a timely fashion.
  • Assists units in the use of performance management tools, corrective action plans, and effecting disciplinary actions.
  • Prepares advice and direction to management on the appropriate disciplinary action, including the preparation of documentation.
  • Investigates, mediates and proposes settlements of employee complaints and grievances.
  • Assists in the design and delivery of training topics and development programs.
  • Assists in designing and promoting recognition initiatives in conformance with established policies and procedures.
  • Analyze confidential information or situations and prepare recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, prepare related reports on a variety of topics, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Investigates proposed legislation related to specialized areas and makes recommendations for compliance. Stay up to date on compliance issues and topics involving Human Resources.
  • Assist employees and others by providing technical information to ensure individuals have a good understanding of human resources processes and operational procedures.
  • Represents department as requested both internally and externally on dealing with human resources matters.
  • Serves as the primary expert on benefits and insurance coverages for employees.
  • Coordinate and track all leave of absence occurrences.
  • Participate in cross-training in other areas of human resources.

Skills And AbilitiesEducation: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Education, or Public Administration. PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Experience: 2 plus years of experience in Human Resources or similar administrative setting with demonstrated experience showing the knowledge, skills and abilities to handle a diverse array of human resources functions, challenges and situations at a variety of levels within a large organization. Experience with employee benefits and insurance coverage is required.
Computer Skills: Must have strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and previous experience with Human Resources Information Systems.
Other SkillsCommunication: Bilingual English/Spanish required.
