Grancare Nursing Center is Hiring a Food Service Director Near Green, WI

We are looking for the next leader of our Food Service Department to join our team of dedicated care partners! Grancare is an independent, family-owned, Eden Alternative nursing home and assisted living facility. The individual who leads all food service activities plays a very important role in our home. This person understands that meals are not just about providing nutrition for the body, but also a time for Elders and care partners to come together and enjoy delicious food while strengthening relationships. Although this role demands challenging technical skills related to State and Federal regulations, this individual embraces the Eden Alternative Philosophy and Principles and actively participates in creating a human habitat.

A Registered Dietitian is preferred. The ideal candidate should be: Experienced in Eldercare nutrition; Proficient at menu planning and calculating nutritional requirements, while always keeping the Elders preferences in mind; Proficient in the fiscal management of the dietary department; Knowledgeable about the federal and state regulations related to the operation of a dietary department in a nursing home. In addition, this person should possess and utilize established leadership skills and be able to identify and solve complex problems – incorporating logic, reasoning, and critical thinking skills.

In fulfilling this role:

  • You lead a team of dietary care partners; You grow strong servant leadership skills that enable you to empower those around you; You nurture relationships and teach others how to recognize and grow their strengths; You are open and available for care partners to approach you with questions or concerns; You use effective communication skills with all care partners; You assist care partners within your neighborhood to continue to grow and learn;
  • You seek out and encourage new ideas and approaches that improve the lives of those around you;
  • You support team development throughout the organization by attending neighborhood gatherings;
  • You talk about identity in your community and assist in the implementation of simple pleasures;
  • You ensure that Elder’s preferences are captured in their Growth Plans;
  • You participate in hiring, welcoming and growing new care partner members in your neighborhood;
  • You have a clear understanding of State and Federal regulations as they relate to Food Service delivery;
  • You audit food service delivery to assure the regulatory standards are being met;
  • You order and purchase food, equipment, and supplies including working with food and supply vendors;
  • You develop and monitor adequate and cost effective inventory control procedures
  • You forecast needs of the department related to equipment, supply purchases and discuss with Administrator;
  • You coordinate dietary services and activities with nursing and other services;
  • You develop menus and diet plans; assure meals are prepared and served in accordance with menu and diet preferences and established portion control procedures;
  • You maintain proper records to ensure Elders diets are in compliance with physician orders
  • You ensure proper storage of raw and leftover foods;
  • You inspect and maintain storage areas, utility rooms and other areas of the dietary department;
  • You ensure control of equipment and supplies;
  • You develop, implement and maintain safety and sanitation standards;
