Position: Activity Director

Edenbrook Green Bay is looking for their next Activity Director. This position is vital to the residents and visitors of our community by providing various social and recreational activities for our residents and visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Activity Director develops, modifies, evaluates and implements activity programs that embrace and fulfill the social needs and interests of the senior population living in and visiting the Community.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  • Assists with planning a comprehensive program that includes individual and group activities that meets the needs and interests of the residents.
  • Plans and directs activities. (Escorts residents to and from activities as needed).
  • Supervises volunteers helping with in-house activities and on community outings.
  • Provides one-to-one activities for residents who are not participating in group activities.
  • Performs duties in a professional manner in compliance with the facility and Therapeutic Recreation Department policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy environment for all residents, following all Minnesota Health Department regulations.
  • Maintains quality daily attendance/ behavioral records.
  • Posts monthly program calendars and maintains good communication with all departments.
  • Assists with setting up and decorating for activities and special events.
  • Attends and participates in Therapeutic Recreation Department staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

CUSTOMER SERVICE PERFORMANCE EXPECTATION:

  • At this facility, each resident, family member, visitor, and coworker is considered your customer and is vital to the success of our organization.
  • Ensures activities occur on the date and time scheduled. Assists residents in getting to activities and gives reminders as needed.
  • Reports change of health, physical or mental, to supervisor and/or their nurse. Maintains complete confidentiality.
  • Follows campus dress code. Keeps office or area presentable, professional, and organized at all times.
  • Aware of residents’ performance in activities so they can be encouraged to attend their favorites. Place residents’ dignity above their own comfort and seeks assistance immediately upon needed.
  • Maintain applicable state requirements of dementia specific training
  • Ensures resident lives are maintained to the extent possible by providing activities and contact with the Community
  • Provides guidance and acts as a resource to staff on the importance of life enrichment and other areas regarding the quality of life for residents
  • Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, resident’s families, visitors, and staff
  • High level of ability in effective and succinct communication, written and oral with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual
  • Must be honest, fair, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills
  • Must have experience in planning, organizing and executing a varied schedule of life enrichment opportunities for all levels of seniors from those who are very active to those with cognitive impairments resulting from Alzheimer’s and related dementias
  • Monitors life enrichment budget, equipment, and supplies
  • Ability to supervise employees
  • Ability to set up and train volunteers
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with residents, family members and staff
  • Ability to represent the Community in a positive and professional manner
  • Must practice and promote Meridian Policies and Procedures, Mission Statement, Core Values, and Founding Principles
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must meet all health requirements and pass background checks
