The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, located in Framingham, Massachusetts, is a regional, not-for-profit business association serving more than 350 member organizations ranging from sole proprietorships and small/mid-tier businesses to Fortune 100 enterprises, municipalities, and not-for-profit organizations in the Greater MetroWest region. The Chamber of Commerce provides programming and events for networking and business development, an independent "voice for business" at municipal and state levels, and support for community and economic development within and among the communities we serve.

Position: President and Chief Executive Officer of the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, Inc. & The MetroWest Chamber Educational Foundation, Inc. (the Chamber)

Position Summary: Working with the Board of Directors (the Board), the President and CEO is responsible for the general management and operation of the Chamber. The President and CEO will provide leadership and vision for the Chamber and will be responsible for coordinating and executing Chamber functions. As an office and community-based leadership position, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active, consistent physical presence in the MetroWest communities they serve.

Responsibilities: The President and CEO is responsible for all duties assigned by the Board which include, but are not limited to:

- In conjunction with the Board, development of an annual strategic plan, which identifies the Chamber’s priorities along with the individual projects, initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) necessary to achieve them.

- Plan long range policies and projects for achieving important membership goals established by the Board.

- Effectively utilize staff and resources to implement the policies or projects adopted by the Board.

- In conjunction with the Board, assess yearly KPIs and make recommendations for improvements in projects and initiatives, when necessary.

- Attract and retain members and sponsors from the communities within the Chamber’s defined service area.

- Direct and manage all membership solicitation efforts, with a focus on implementation of the strategic plan.

- Serve as the face and voice of the Chamber, including being present at key Chamber and community events.

- Serve as a liaison to local businesses and business groups;

- Make public addresses or appearances before governmental hearings and other functions to support causes and interests of the Chamber and/or its member businesses.

- Work with the Chamber’s Finance Committee and Board of Directors to prepare and manage the annual budget.

- Successfully manage and maximize the Chamber’s assets and resources.

- Achieve the annual budget bottom-line financial performance.

- Submit timely financial reporting, receivables collection, prompt payment of payables, budgetary expenditures and staff salaries.

- Fulfill the Chamber’s regulatory compliance and reporting obligations, including the filing of annual reports and any other periodic reports as may be required.

- Plan and execute events that are in line with the Chamber’s strategic plan and that advance the economic, cultural and civic welfare of the Chamber’s members and which reflect the Chamber’s priorities.

- Debrief the Board upon each event’s completion, providing a report on the financial outcome of the event, including income, costs, sponsorship(s), and attracting of new members, with such analysis reflective of staff resources required, attendance and reach, and qualitative and other relevant criteria.

- Assist the Chamber members in their efforts to meet their objectives around networking opportunities, business referrals, and professional and business development.

- Recruit, hire, and train Chamber employees, in alignment with the Chamber needs and financial capacity.

- Supervise and manage employees, including the development and implementation of a yearly performance evaluation.

- Recruit and coordinate volunteers, periodically assessing and evaluating their efficacy.

- Provide regular and timely reports to the Board on matters concerning the Chamber and its operations including financial and membership reports.

- Develop effective Board and sub-committee meetings wherein all members play meaningful roles.

- Strive to ensure that Board membership is representative of the various communities in the MetroWest region by making appropriate recommendations to the Chair and the Nominations Committee.

Qualifications:

- Three years of executive/management experience with a Chamber of Commerce or similar not for profit organization.

- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline; advanced degree preferred but not required.

- Fluency in multiple languages preferred but not required.

- High degree of interpersonal capacity; open and approachable communication style.

- Familiarity with CRM systems (Chamber Master) and MS office suite.

- Excellent oral, written, and organizational communication skills.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to organizational needs promptly.

- Experience working with a Board of Directors as well as working with C-suite executives.

- Excellent knowledge of non-profit sector budgeting, finance, and standard practices.

- Knowledge of working with municipal, state and federal agencies, especially in legislative and public policy advocacy.

- Goal oriented, ambitious, and resourceful individual who takes initiative.

- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.

Availability for early morning and evening meetings on an as-needed basis. This is community-based position. The successful candidate will maintain an active, consistent physical presence in the MetroWest communities they serve.
