Hiring Salary Range

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; some evenings and weekends may be required

Summer Hours : Monday - Thursday, 7am-6pm

This role will be eligible to work a hybrid remote schedule after six months of employment.

Job Summary

Chandler-Gilbert Community College seeks a driven and research oriented Human Resources Specialist to perform a wide variety of professional duties in support of Human Resources functions.

The ideal candidate is someone who fosters collaboration, looks to solve problems, and takes an active interest in learning about the business / departments they support.

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, the HR Specialist will assist with the coordination and administration of various functional areas such as, recruitment and selection, new employee onboarding / orientation, payroll and benefit administration, personnel policies;

and provide technical and para-professional assistance to senior level staff.

Essential Functions

50% - Facilitates the recruitment process, including reviewing search plan, consultation with hiring managers, sourcing, posting positions, coordinating interviews, background checks, reference checks, verification of employment, onboarding and conducting new hire orientation

20% - Provides customer support, responds to inquiries, troubleshoots issues in various areas, including recruitment, general payroll and benefit questions

15%- Assist with the coordination and delivery of HR training opportunities and as well as attend off site job fairs to promote CGCC roles

10% - Processes HCM transactions, reporting and analyzing data

5% - Filing, record maintenance, program activity support, and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) full-time equivalent year of human resources support experience related to area of assignment.

High School Diploma or GED and three (3) full-time equivalent years of human resources support experience related to area of assignment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree from regionally accredited college or university
  • Two years (2) or more years of experience in human resources handling full cycle recruitment (planning, sourcing, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, onboarding, new hire orientation) for full time, temporary, or part time positions
  • Demonstrated experience providing consultative guidance to hiring managers on the Human Resources recruitment process
  • Demonstrated experience carrying out new hire orientations for new employees
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in the coordination of training for managers
  • Experience working with Peoplesoft, or other human resources information system (HRIS)
  • Experience working in a public sector or higher education environment

Special Working Conditions

  • May be required to travel or work at multiple MCCCD sites or and job fair locations
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to work evening and weekend hours
