Armstrong Pharmaceuticals is Hiring a Research and Development Chemist Near Canton, MA

A Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company in Canton, Massachusetts is looking for a Research and Development Chemist (R&D Chemist) to perform chemical laboratory tests on pharmaceutical raw materials, components, component raw materials, in-process, finished products, and stability samples

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned) the R&D Chemist will complete routine assignments and assist as needed on special projects and NCR/OOS investigations.

The R&D Chemist will:

  • Perform, record and report the results of chemical tests for raw material, in-process and finished products by using various instruments such as HPLC, GC, LC, LC/MS, LC/MS/MS, NMR, FTTR, UV, and AA.
  • Analytical method development and method validation for pharmaceutical products.
  • Perform the formulation studies for various dosage forms.
  • Incorporate regulatory compliance of cGMP/GLP standards into SOPs, protocols and LTMs development.
  • Perform investigation of test results that are out-of-specifications as directed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or relevant scientific degree from a four-year college or university. Must have work experience in performing various wet chemistry tests. Experience in the use of UV NIS, pH meters, and balances is required Familiarity with HPLC, GC, and FTIR is preferred. Able to understand and perform analysis per written LTMs and SOPs. Working knowledge of cGMPs, in the pharmaceutical industry, is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Knowledge of computer on spreadsheets and word process is preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic and advanced mathematical operations used in chemical analysis calculations.
  • Familiarity with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually works in a laboratory environment, regularly exposed to hazardous chemical. The employee must occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions, and extreme heat.
