Sound Fury Brewing in Downtown Brooklyn is a brewpub focused on crafting high quality and accessible classic styles that interest a wide spectrum of beer drinkers. We run a two vessel, 7 BBL, semi-automated ABE brewhouse with 6 fermenters and 6 brite tanks with an annual production of 600 BBLs, and we are seeking a Head Brewer to take over day-to-day operations.

Primary Duties:

• Oversee recipe development, wort production, fermentation monitoring, and yeast management.
• Conduct racking, transferring, and clarification of beers.
• Ensure proper carbonation and packaging into kegs, cans, and serving vessels.
• Operate and maintain brewing equipment efficiently.
• Perform tank CIPs and manual cleaning of fermenters and brite beer tanks.
• Carry out general maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed.
• Handle incoming grain and prepare for brew days.
• Maintain draft lines and perform keg cleaning.
• Take and record inventory, and manage ordering processes.
• Educate staff members on new beers to ensure clear communication with customers.
• Attend outside events as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a professional brewery setting.
• Strong attention to detail, effective multitasking abilities, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to lift 55 lbs alone and up to 175 lbs assisted.
• Ability to work in hot, wet, cold, and slippery conditions as well as working with steam equipment and chemicals.
• Extensive knowledge of brewing ingredients, processes, glassware, and service.
• Degree in brewing science and/or Cicerone training is preferred but not required

This position is based in Downtown Brooklyn, NYC. Hours: 45 per week. Brewing operations run Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend hours and outside events. Compensation $60,000-$70,000 BOE, with fringe benefits.
