Our Mission: 

Hearth is a non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of homelessness among the elderly. This mission is accomplished through a unique blend of prevention, placement, and housing programs all designed to help elders find and succeed in homes of their own. To this end, all housing operated by Hearth provides a creative array of supportive services that assist residents to age with dignity, regardless of their special medical, mental health, or social needs. Hearth believes these goals are best accomplished through respect for elders and staff, with the desire to see both achieve their highest degree of potential.

Overview:

Hearth is searching for a passionate and growth-oriented Director of Development to join our team and lead our fundraising efforts as one of our senior leaders. The Director of Development will work closely with the CEO to create and implement an effective fundraising strategy, focusing on proactively identifying and cultivating new funding sources and opportunities to deepen existing funder relationships. The Director of Development will report to the CEO and serve as the primary staff liaison with the Board/Institutional Advancement Committee, providing valuable insights on all matters related to development and communications.

Major Functions:

- Develop and Implement a Comprehensive Development Plan

- Manage, Inspire and Lead a Team of Fundraising Professionals

- Oversees the coordination of Donor-Related communications, including Email

& Social Media

- Work Closely with the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer

- Monitor and Analyze Fundraising Data with Strategic Foresight

- Cultivate Relationships with Stakeholders

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement a Comprehensive Development Plan:

- Collaborate with the CEO to shape and execute a comprehensive Development plan encompassing major gift, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.

- Grow and sustain relationships with individual donors, funders, government agencies, and corporate partners.

- Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events aligned with Hearth’s mission and values.

-Oversee comprehensive fundraising program, including annual and major gifts, grants, events, and in-kind donations from individual, foundation, and corporate donors

Manage, Inspire and Lead a Team of Fundraising Professionals:

- Provide leadership and support to the development team, including coaching, empowerment, and professional development opportunities.

- Set goals and expectations for individual team members and monitor performance to ensure fundraising goals are met.

Oversees the coordination of Donor-Related communications, including Email

& Social Media

- Oversee the develop compelling donor communications and marketing materials.

- Craft targeted appeals and donor recognition programs to engage donors and drive donations.

Work Closely with the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Office:

- Serve as a resource to the Board/ Institutional Advancement Committee on all matters related to fundraising and communications.

- Collaborate with the CEO to develop prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship goals for individual donors and institutional funders.

Monitor and Analyze Fundraising Data:

- Oversee the fundraising component of Hearth’s database and prepare reports to inform development strategy and priorities.

- Research and pursue new funding opportunities, including government contracts, while retaining existing partnerships.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred).

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development, with a track record of achieving multi-million-dollar fundraising goals.

- Experience managing development team members and supporting their ongoing growth.

- Strong project management skills and results-oriented mindset.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Passion for social justice and advocacy for underserved populations.

- Commitment to equity and collaboration in all aspects of work.

- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities with humor and energy.
