American Training is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Andover, MA

American Training, a non-profit Human Services Agency, is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator for our After Hours Program with Day Services Branch.

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for oversight and coordination of the After hours program and Colleagues to ensure a high level of care and innovative programming for Guests.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in social services, behavioral sciences or education. Degree can be waived if experience indicates competence.

EXPERIENCE: Two or more years experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder or physical disabilities. At least one year in a supervisory role.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Oversee the operations of the After Hours programs at all three sites (Andover, Lowell and Wakefield). This includes developing schedules, activities and enrichment tasks for Guests who attend extended hours programming.
  • Ensure that the operations of the program are flexible in nature to accommodate varying needs of the individuals. In some cases the levels of independence will need to be enhanced or diminished depending abilities and skills of the people receiving service.
  • Conduct supervisions with Colleagues regularly and provide feedback on the status of their performance.
  • Does regular monitoring of groups and curriculums being presented to guests, documents findings and gives feedback for improvement to colleagues
  • Develops and institutes new curriculums and activities to enhance the After Hours schedules
  • Coordinates the intake, programming, health and safety needs of Guests referred to the program:
  • Supervise the completion of documentation regarding attendance, relevant data and any assigned progress notes
  • Networks with the local community to bring in exciting and innovative learning opportunities and activities to enhance the program experience.
  • Adheres to all standards, policies, regulations and practices in detecting and reporting abuse and/or neglect
  • Adheres to all regulations, policies and procedures in regards to privacy and confidentiality
  • Completes contractually required attendance and outcome related documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Coordinates and develop schedules of transportation drop offs to ensure safe transport of guests.
  • Designs specialized programming to ensure program meets WOW! Magic standards.
  • Works with Senior Management on development of expansion and growth plans for After Hours service.
  • Develops safety procedures, on-call policies and community guidelines to ensure care and safety of all guests.
  • Provides on-going supervision and field observations for all direct care Colleagues
  • Develops sustainable relationships with and markets program services to funding. sources, families and allied professionals to achieve growth and performance goals.
  • Attends all required trainings and meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS NEEDED/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to analyze systems, operations and procedures required
  • Ability to set professional boundaries and limits with Guests
  • Ability to work a non traditional schedule; early afternoons to early evening.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Frequent walking, standing, crouching and lifting
  • Must be able to lift 30 - 40 pounds
  • Must be able to maintain in a fast paced environment with a high energy level
  • Must be able to assist in transfers, lifts and personal care assistance
  • Must be able to physically implement First aid/CPR to individuals in response to an emergency situation and/or the implementation of a Crisis plan

EMOTIONAL EFFORT:

  • Frequent short deadlines, changes in work schedule, change in office assignments or assigned tasks given the demands of the position
  • Work environment frequently hectic, fast-paced with periods of high stress
  • Must be able to calmly and analytically respond to individual crisis situations
