Job Summary:

The Plant HR Generalist is responsible for supporting various human resources functions within the manufacturing facility under the direction of the Director, HR – Midwest Region. This role focuses on recruitment, employee relations, training and development, performance management, compliance, and health and safety, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Staffing

  • Manage and/or leverage the regional staffing department to administer the entire recruitment process including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
  • Collaborate with department managers to understand staffing needs and job requirements.

Employee Relations

  • Address employee concerns and grievances, and mediate conflicts to maintain a positive workplace environment.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and mutual respect.

Training and Development

  • Develop, coordinate and/or implement training programs for new hires and existing employees to enhance their skills and knowledge, leverage resources across the region or across Helios.
  • Ensure all employees complete necessary safety and compliance training.

Performance Management

  • Assist in the performance review process by providing guidance and support to supervisors and employees.
  • Support the development and implementation of performance improvement plans.

Compliance

  • Ensure the plant's HR practices comply with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and handle confidential information responsibly.

Health and Safety

  • Promote a safe working environment by supporting health and safety programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate Workers’ Compensation activities such as seeking medical attention, issuance of FROI (First Report of Injury), follow-up appointments, communicating restrictions to managers for review of accommodations, etc.
  • Work with safety manager to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.

HR Policies and Procedures

  • Develop, communicate, and enforce HR policies and procedures in coordination.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR-related issues and policy interpretation.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Precision in managing employee records and compliance matters.
  • Understanding and effectively addressing employee concerns and needs.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating integrity in all HR practices.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in an HR role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, labor laws, and regulations.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is preferred but not required.
