Job Description

The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Nursing seeks a faculty position to manage and oversee all operations of the College of Nursing (CON), Nursing Learning Resource and Simulation Center (NLRSC). This is a full-time, twelve-month non-tenure track (NTT) position. As the Director of NLRSC, this role will support faculty, staff, and students in the teaching and development of nursing skills, utilization of simulation, and use of instructional technology and media to enhance student learning in undergraduate and graduate academic programs.Duties and Responsibilities1. Manage and oversee all operations of the College of Nursing (CON) Nursing Learning Resource and Simulation Center (NLRSC)a.Oversees the operations of all clinical skills and simulation laboratory facilities and resources to ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization, promoting safe and collegial practicesb.Strategically plans, and facilitates utilization, growth, and efficiency of clinical skills and simulation facilities in collaboration, with NLRSC Simulation Coordinatorc.Problem solves to optimize operations and support ongoing quality improvementd.Creates an annual budget in collaboration with the CON Dean including personnel needs, capital, durable, and consumable supply needs, technology equipment, and team member educatione.Track and renew manikin and asset equipment warranties, preventative maintenance, and loaner programs f.Coordinate care and arranges maintenance of all lab equipment and supplies utilized in graduate and undergraduate, programs in collaboration with the NLRSC designated - Simulation Coordinator and work study studentsg.Manage daily operations of the NLRSC in collaboration with the NLRSCSimulation Coordinator and work study students including i.a) organization, tracking, and ordering suppliesii.b) inventory maintenanceiii.c) review and organization of lab space utilization requests and needsh.Administers inventory controls and supports purchasing (including quotes from vendors and suppliers), and facilitates maintaining the necessary stock of consumables i.Submit purchase requests for approval to facilitate orders with payments to vendors and suppliersj.Coordinate scheduling of NLRSC space, resources, to support curricular use by faculty and studentsk.Manage recruitment, hiring, supervision, and performance evaluation of NLRSC student workers. l.Maintain records and monitor trends of injuries that occur within the NLRSC and submit them to the appropriate individualsm.Develop, implement, evaluate and maintain policies, procedures, protocols, and that support strategic decision-making and sustainable growth and align with current simulation standards best practices for skills instructionn.Maintain a yearly NLRSC Policies and Procedure Manualo.Assures that designated simulation scenarios and programs align with current simulation standardsp.Provide information to update the NLRSC CON website and Teams sites to house NLRSC-specific content and forms in collaboration with ITS supportq.Scheduling of tours in collaboration with the CON Office of Student Affairs and UMSL campus for prospective students, new student orientations, preview days, and open house eventsr.Flex time as needed to cover simulation activities and tours 2.Collaborate with program directors, course faculty, Simulation Coordinator and designated NLRSC faculty/ in planning the delivery of student learning experiences and evaluation activities in the nursing skills, assessment and simulation labs.a.Maintain knowledge and expertise of best educational practices and innovations concerning simulation and the development of nursing skillsb.Provide leadership for the utilization and integration of clinical simulation in the undergraduate and graduate curriculac.Collaborate with program directors, course leaders, Simulation Coordinator and faculty in the selection, development and utilization of instructional materials activities designed to support student learning (including clinical equivalent activities and open lab schedules)d.Develop and present training programs for faculty and staff on the use of NLRSC-specific processes and instructional technologies including simulatione.Participate in inter-professional learning activities that encourage and develop skills that support patient-centered, team-delivered, and interdisciplinary care3.Support use of instructional technology and media in collaboration with NLRSC IT specialists to enhance student learning in undergraduate and graduate academic programsa.Manage nursing simulation, assessment and skills laboratories to support academic programsb.Maintain library of simulation and instructional technology and resources, educational and A-V resources, and various media to support academic programsc.Coordinate review of and make recommendations for acquisition educational equipment, resources, media, and technology for the NLRSC to support academic programsd.Coordinate with the Simulation and Technology Manager training, support and maintenance of NLRSC skills lab, computer and A-V equipment, media, and other instructional technology, including simulation technologiese.Serves as a resource for support and maintenance of simulation technologiesf.Provide faculty and staff support in the analysis and use of educational media, technology and equipment4.Liaison Activitiesa.Collaborate with IT support specialists to meet the educational needs of the students and faculty developmentb.Coordinate use of NLRSC space and equipment by groups internal and external to the CON.c.Provide tours and presentations for specific groupsd.Assist with fundraising activities as requested5.Other activitiesa.Represent the CON on/at university committees, activities, events, conferences, professional meetings and with external user groupsb.Sustain awareness of trends in simulation through employer-provided/supported membership in attendance at conferences and other professional meetings, journal subscriptions, and networkingc.Other activities as assigned: special projects, initiative, and related duties.

Qualifications

Required:*A graduate degree in nursing*possession of an unencumbered license as professional nurse*Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Missouri*Evidence of successful classroom and/or clinical teaching experience*Effective interpersonal and strong leadership skills*Experience with instructional media and technology*Two years experience working in a baccalaureate nursing skills lab*Two years experience in a nursing simulation lab*Certification simulation education*Ability to work independently and within teams*Excellent organizational skillsPreferred:*Terminal degree in nursing or related field preferred*Experience supervising personnel.
