Western Industrial Resources is Hiring an EXCAVATOR - OPERATOR I Near Apache Junction, AZ

Join the Western Industrial team as an Excavator Operator! In this role, you will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy-duty machinery and equipment used in construction projects. Duties include performing routine maintenance on equipment, reading and interpreting blueprints, and hauling materials and contribute to various construction projects. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report to work fit for duty and support the Western Industrial Resources safety culture.
  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures. 
  • Any other job duties that are required by management that pertain to this craft.
  • Support Western Industrial Resources right to a drug free workplace. 
  • Use and support the use of our Stop Work Authority when necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Attention and commitment to safety and an ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and practices commonly used in construction and maintenance sites.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of operation of front-end loader, dozers, graders, compactors or other pieces of heavy equipment required to complete assigned tasks. 
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage. 
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures. 
  • Understanding of technical, operation, service, or repair manuals.
  • Negative preemployment drug test.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience.
  • Excavate trenching for underground utilities.
  • Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel and other materials efficiently to maintain project schedule.
  • Ensure the trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade.
  • Be aware of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation.
  • Ability to operate multiple machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or designs to understand the requirements of the job.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refuel equipment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Current driver's license with the appropriate class and all necessary endorsements.
  • Must maintain a current DOT medical card.
  • OSHA 30-Hour construction is required or can be obtained.
  • Forklift, MEWP or other equipment experience and certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to move 75 pounds. 
  • Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with the ability to: grasp, assemble and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders and lie down.
  • Physically capable of climbing up and down, above, inside and under equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work outdoors with constant exposure to heat, cold, wind and rain.
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites (Per Diem is available depending on job site/location)
