Description

Mail Processing Driver
The Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration for the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is currently seeking a full-time, safe, and skilled Mail Processing Driver to join our team in Olympia, WA. We are looking for someone who demonstrates integrity, respect, and teamwork and has a positive attitude.

This role will be responsible for high-volume mail production, and processing support with a variety of complex technical duties, which may include driving mail vehicles with a high volume of mail and boxes. Join us today and help us on our mission to Transform Lives!

This role is in person with the hours of 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Perform complex technical duties
  • Posses a high level of attention to detail
  • Function independently for the majority of any given day
  • Help maintain computerized postal charges for account billings
  • Operate and maintain multiple computer systems
  • Manually move, relocate, transport, and sort heavy mailbags and boxes
  • Interpret job instructions and maintain records of production and supplies
  • Sort letters to correct mail stops for proper delivery
  • Deliver and pick up mail, boxes, etc.
  • Think critically to determine the most cost-effective way of sending packages
  • Inspect, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot mail center processing equipment
  • Answer telephones and provide assistance to customers
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other programs proficiently
  • Drive a large mail van
What we're looking for:
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to physically handle, sort, and deliver mail and packages which may involve lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to understand shipping methods and rates.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain and correct malfunctions in equipment.
  • Ability to drive a large mail van to deliver and pick up mail.
Who should apply?
Professionals with a high school diploma or GED and one year of experience sorting and distributing mail
AND
Professionals who maintain a valid Washington driver's license to drive and operate a large van or motor vehicle to pick up and deliver mail
