Resource Support Paraprofessional/Interventionist

With the support of and under the supervision of the Lead Teachers, the Director of Academics and the Executive Director, this position directly serves students in support of the school's MTSS and/or Specialized Instruction and/or Title I programs. The roles and responsibilities of the positions include, but are not limited to, the following:


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Observe, guide, assist, and supervise students in all school environments (i.e., classroom, playground, campus) throughout the school day;
  • Continuously take responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of all students in your charge;
  • Identify and source evidence- and research-based academic, behavioral, articulation, and language interventions;
  • Assist Lead Teachers in the identification of students that need academic, behavioral, articulation, and language support;
  • Assist Lead Teachers with the creation and maintenance of Intervention Plans in the SCCPSS’s PowerSchool Special Programs platform;
  • Assist in the creation of a school-wide schedule that includes adequate time for all students at Tier 2, Tier 3 and Referral to New Program (RNP) to complete their interventions and progress monitoring as defined on the students’ intervention plan;
  • Actively and consistently provide students with identified interventions and collect progress monitoring data;
  • Monitor the delivery of interventions and collection of progress monitoring data by other (as assigned) staff members for fidelity;
  • Attend Tier 2 and Tier 3 meetings as appropriate and assist with the documentation of outcome decisions for students;
  • Attend monthly meetings with the school’s assigned School Psychologist and Speech-Language Therapist to review information on students who are being recommended for evaluation;
  • Participate in district and other training as appropriate; and
  • Fulfill other duties as determined by the Director of Academics and the Executive Director.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, professionalism, and ethical behavior in all duties, including those outside of the classroom;
  • Regularly attend staff meetings;
  • Be in attendance at parent meetings and/or communicate with parents as requested by the Lead Teacher, Director of Academics or the Executive Director;
  • Participate in the professional development goal-setting program as required by the school/state;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents, and school issues;
  • Report any and all accidents or incidents immediately and complete the written documentation procedure required by the school;
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Montessori principles, positive discipline strategies, the CEMCO Employee Handbook, the CEMCO Family Handbook, and school policies;
  • Strictly adhere to all mandated reporter requirements;
  • Remain informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for teachers or paraprofessionals, including the CEMCO Employee Handbook;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
  • Possess the physical capacity to work with children of primary or elementary age, including lifting up to 40 pounds, bending and working on the floor; and
  • Fulfill other duties as determined by the Director of Academics and the Executive Director.

Other Requirements

  • Required: A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in education or a related field;
  • Required: Georgia Paraprofessional Certification;
  • Preferred: Montessori certification and/or teaching experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to relate joyfully to children and implement positive discipline strategies;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; and
  • Possess the physical capacity to work with children of the elementary age; and
  • Use tact, patience and courtesy.

Work Schedule and Compensation

  • Interventionist: full-time (1.0) position, 37.5 hours per week;
  • Non-exempt hourly employee;
  • Hourly rate from Classified Salary Scale (Paraprofessional Grade 05 or Para-Educator Grade 06 depending on funding source; Step per negotiation); and
  • 190-day ( 10 paid holidays) calendar.
