PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for teaching high school students’ introductory culinary arts classes in both the laboratory and lecture setting.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education Level: Associate degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited culinary institution

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

2. Experience, Skill and Certification:

• Valid vocational certification in culinary arts
• At least 2 years’ experience as a chef
• Ability to work with diverse students and sensitivity to student cultural needs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Teaches ServSafe, sanitation, nutrition, culinary skills and related topics to high school students wishing to pursue a career as a culinary
• Makes industry connections to promote service learning, cooperative education, and work-based learning opportunities for the students; utilizes advisory committees for regular input.
• Works additional hours outside the normal work day periodically to provide additional learning experiences for the students in catering and hosting
• Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction, and develops program syllabi, goals and objectives.
