Savannah Chatham County Public School System is Hiring a SY 24-25 Culinary Arts Instructor Near Savannah, GA

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for teaching high school students’ introductory culinary arts classes in both the laboratory and lecture setting.

REPORTS TO: Principal

SALARY SCHEDULE: Teacher

WORK DAYS: 190

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education Level: Associate degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited culinary institution

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

2. Experience, Skill and Certification: 

  • Valid vocational certification in culinary arts
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a chef
  • Ability to work with diverse students and sensitivity to student cultural needs

Preferred

  • Teaching experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Teaches ServSafe, sanitation, nutrition, culinary skills and related topics to high school students wishing to pursue a career as a culinary
  2. Makes industry connections to promote service learning, cooperative education, and work-based learning opportunities for the students; utilizes advisory committees for regular input.
  3. Works additional hours outside the normal work day periodically to provide additional learning experiences for the students in catering and hosting
  4. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction, and develops program syllabi, goals and objectives.
  5. Maintains lesson plans that reflect current
  6. Integrates work ethics, fire prevention, and other appropriate health and safety procedures in the instruction
  7. Organizes time, space, materials and equipment for
  8. Provides education assistance to individual
  9. Maintains class discipline to provide proper learning
  10. Establishes criterion reference items to assess student attainment of objectives or competencies.
  11. Maintains supplies and equipment as needed for classes and
  12. Participates in professional development
  13. Maintains student progress
  14. Participates in school committees and in-service
  15. Files reports promptly and
  16. Maintains class discipline to provide proper learning
  17. Provides support and assistance to students'
  18. Develops ideas and makes recommendations for the improvement of total school's program
  19. Provides job placement assistance to
  20. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.
