City of Danville, IL is Hiring a Program Support Specialist Near Danville, IL

The City of Danville, IL, is seeking a Program Support Specialist for our Public Works Department.

Normal Work Hours: 6:30am to 4:30pm, Monday – Thursday, subject to change

Salary: $50,248

Position Summary: The general purpose of this position and/or contribution to the department is to oversee scheduling and coordination of activities related to Sanitary Sewer and Solid Waste Collection Services. Includes creation and management of databases & spreadsheets, performs scheduling and reporting activities and report generation. Also includes significant customer service interaction, in addition to performing support duties related to Operations Group. Includes procurement and inventory management, accounts payables, payroll processing and handling miscellaneous correspondence for the Department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate from a recognized education institution.
  • Associate’s degree in administrative support or equivalent coursework from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of like experience and/or training in database design, creation, and management, as well as program management and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure construction and maintenance is beneficial, including procurement and payroll processing.
  • Three to five years of extensive customer service/interaction required.

Required Knowledge and Skills: Employees must possess, at minimum, a basic working knowledge of the following skill sets along with the ability to demonstrate an improvement of these skills within 30 days of their start date.

  • High level of computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database development and use.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors and staff in developing and communicating program information for the various Departmental programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to multi-task, write, review, and prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to train other staff on program implementation, monitoring, and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and assisting with the management of the online application for condition reporting and follow-up.
  • Coordination and scheduling Solid Waste Division special collections and creating a daily schedule of extra collections for Solid Waste.
  • Process condition/work requests and respond with proper correspondence to residents & property owners regarding issues, collections, and other Departmental matters.
  • Maintain Operations Group databases.
  • Process payroll, accounts payables and receivables for transfer to Finance.
  • Perform front-line customer service via phone, in-person, email, or through app.
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of all Departmental programs and operations for proper customer service.
  • Maintain proper records and files in an organized manner.

Residency Requirements: Employees of the City must establish their principal residence within forty-five (45) miles of the City of Danville corporate limits within six months following successful completion of their probationary period.
