POSITION TITLE: Trauma Informed Yoga TeacherDEPARTMENT: Therapy ServicesREPORTS TO: Director of Clinical ServicesCLASSIFICATION: ContractorPosition SummaryThe Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher provides group instruction to all survivors of rape and sexual violence, as well as to non-offending family members, guardians, and other close supporters. The Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher has experience working with trauma survivors, is certified in teaching yoga, and has experience teaching classes to a diverse group of participants.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide and co-facilitate Trauma-Informed Yoga Groups for survivors of sexual violence, non-offending family members, partners, guardians or loved ones of all ages;
  • Understand and respect each individual’s unique path to recovery
  • Provide consultation and education to survivors of sexual violence, non-offending family members, guardians, or loved ones and work with the family to connect them to appropriate support services in the community as needed
  • Engage guests and clients in a supportive manner, encouraging discussion and activities focused on building trust and recovery
  • Employ strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and program expectations and are culturally appropriate
  • Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (e.g. communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the individual’s goals and interests as needed
  • Employ strategies for engagement with survivors of trafficking that allow for building rapport and trust slowly over time
  • Assist individuals in developing their own plan for advancing their recovery
  • Work closely with all therapeutic services and multidisciplinary team members to identify the needs of clients and their support systems
  • Complete data collection, data entry, and required reports and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with program timelines and standards

Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications
  • Minimum 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certification
  • Current CPR Certification
  • 2 years of direct Yoga Teaching experience
  • 2 years of experience with survivors of sexual violence
  • May consider an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training to meet the essential functions of the position
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
  • Experience using yoga with individuals experiencing trauma symptoms
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, peers, and community representatives
  • Knowledge of recovery, mental health (including diagnosing), and other co-occurring disorders
  • Ability to facilitate support groups
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Ability to use videoconferencing tools (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams)

Mental Demands that may be an inherent part of one’s position at CRCC
  • Hearing and processing stories of sexual violence from survivors of various ages
  • Understanding the symptoms of vicarious trauma and knowing how to minimize its impact
  • Using supervision to appropriately process feelings of burnout, countertransference, and vicarious trauma
SCHEDULE/LOCATION
  • In order to meet the needs of CRCC, this position requires work to be performed at any of CRCC locations and at locations within the community
  • Work is performed onsite at a CRCC location as required, and may be performed remotely (i.e. at home) the balance of the time with supervisor approval
  • Typical schedule is developed as needs present up to 25 hours per month.
