Apply now and become an integral part of the Jackson College family!ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
  • Confers with hiring managers to identify appropriate qualifications and assessment needs for open positions. Determines qualifying questions for job postings to screen for qualified applicants who meet minimum requirements.
 
  • Responsible for coordinating and communicating the hiring process to hiring managers and committee members. Including the tracking of hiring process training and confidentiality agreements.
 
  • Acts as the department expert on NEOGOV Insight and OHC modules. Takes the lead role for updates and maintenance on the system.
 
  • Utilizes NEOGOV functionality to develop and prepare job postings. Also refers candidates to hiring committees and completes the hiring process in NEOED.
 
  • Initiates new employee files and Colleague build prior to NEO week.
 
  • Develops recruitment content to attract applicants on several hiring platforms.
 
  • Coordinate hiring process with hiring managers, including coordination of search committees, schedule interviews, completes reference, background, and motor vehicle checks when applicable.
 
  • Assemble and maintain material for each position, when filled, to be archived for possible FOIA needs. 
 
  • Manage the New Employee Orientation (NEO) process. Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and follow-up with new employees to ensure they are oriented to the JC community/culture and feel welcomed as they begin their employment, including managing the mentoring programs and mentors.
 
  • In coordination with IT, troubleshoot new employee access issues during NEO week.
 
  • Administer Employee Tuition Waiver program including tracking and accruals for all employees (Adjunct, Coaches, Faculty, Staff and Admin).
 
  • Utilize Microsoft programs, HR Software, Colleague, and WEBI to collect data and prepare reports as needed.
 
  • Maintain updated tracking of open positions.
 
  • Assist other department employees with tasks during high workload times.
 
  • Cross train with other HR team members to provide back-up support during peak times and absences.
 
  • Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission, and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
 
CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS

Internal: Frequent contact with staff members in the same department and other departments in an information sharing, service provider and problem-solving capacity.
 
External: Contact with candidates for employment, advertising agencies, local and national media. QUALIFICATIONS

 Education and/or Experience 
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or two to four years personnel related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum
  • Experience with Human Resources practices
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive information, records and reports
  • Contract compliance, records management tracking, and reporting experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills. Ability to manage several projects at once
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Database management
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom and Microsoft Teams for scheduling virtual meetings
  • Demonstrated success in a customer service environment
 
Preferred:
  • Office management principles and practices
  • Work as a team in an open office setting. 
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work environment, manage competing demands and deal with frequent changes, interruptions, or unexpected events
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills and strong organizational skills.
 
Preferred Skills
Experience in recruiting and HRIS database usage. 
 
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
Mathematical Skills 
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability 
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
