GRANT SPECIALIST / DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
PARKS DEPARTMENT
The Kenosha County Parks Division is seeking a full time Grant Specialist / Development Coordinator who will be responsible for researching, applying to, and managing all grants on behalf of Kenosha County Parks. This individual will be engaged in marketing parks amenities, managing the parks special event team, managing/developing all parks events, and developing recreational programming activities.

2024 Hiring Range: $27.00 – $30.68 per hour
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Occasional nights and weekends to manage special events and programs
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed to cover special events
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform prospect research on governments, foundations, and corporations to evaluate grant prospects
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by donors
  • Provide stewardship to current donors
  • Maintain current records in database, including grant tracking and reporting
  • Track statistics relevant to development and provide department with written materials necessary for donor stewardship (visitor number and diversity, educational program attendance, etc.)
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
  • Serve as County Parks’ liaison to other community organizations such as business partners, recreation leagues, nonprofit organizations, local universities, etc.
  • Coordinate projects through a systematic project management approach: conception, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, completion, and evaluation
  • Recruit, supervise, and monitor seasonal employees and internship programs
  • Develop marketing strategies and community outreach initiatives for special events and programs
  • Work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
  • Direct employees and interns by offering constructive feedback and giving clear direction on program goals
  • Lead projects and programs; monitor and meet project and program goals
  • Update websites and social media accounts to keep information current and accurate
  • Create graphics used to market and advertise park events and activities
  • Plan, budget, fundraise, advertise, and coordinate special events and recreational programming activities

JOB REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post high school education with specialization in grant writing, business, communications, public relations, park and recreation, or related field
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with grant writing and/or governmental relations
  • Experience with non-profit fundraising
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environment
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
