Temporary Family Law Attorney


Basking Ridge, NJ | Remote or Hybrid | 8–10 Hours Per Week

Compensation: $70–$80/Hour


Trustpoint.One is partnering with a well-established family law practice in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, in the search for a Temporary Family Law Attorney. This flexible opportunity is ideal for an experienced family law practitioner seeking supplemental work, including solo practitioners looking to add billable hours without the administrative burden of developing new business.


The firm is experiencing significant demand and is currently turning away new matters due to capacity constraints. They are seeking an attorney who can step in and provide immediate support handling active family law matters while delivering exceptional client service.


In addition to the immediate need, this role may present a unique long-term opportunity for an attorney interested in succession planning, as two members of the practice are approaching retirement.


What You'll Do:

  • Manage family law matters from intake through resolution
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
  • Handle written discovery and discovery responses
  • Conduct client meetings and maintain regular client communication
  • Provide strategic guidance on family law matters
  • Collaborate with the firm's attorneys on case strategy and workload management
  • Assist with court preparation and related case management activities


What We're Looking For:

  • Active New Jersey bar admission in good standing
  • Prior family law experience required
  • Strong drafting, discovery, and client management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing matters in a remote or hybrid environment
  • Solo practitioners and attorneys with existing practices are encouraged to apply

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations
  • Work is generally performed sitting, talking, hearing, and typing
  • This is a high-volume screen-based role, requiring constant, prolonged computer usage, including but not limited to: reviewing documents, managing visual content, and attending virtual meetings
  • Visual acuity required for computer use, data analysis, and extended reading
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and document handling
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighting up to 30 pounds


Remote Work & Information Security Requirements

Employees in this role are expected to maintain a work environment that supports the protection of confidential, proprietary, and client-sensitive information, consistent with Company policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

To support these obligations, individuals in this role should be able to:

  • Maintain a secure and reliable internet connection capable of supporting required systems and applications
  • Utilize company-issued or approved technology, including compliance with required security tools (e.g., VPN, multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection)
  • Conduct work in a manner that protects the confidentiality of information, including taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access, viewing, or disclosure of sensitive materials
  • Follow all applicable information security, data privacy, and acceptable use policies as communicated by the Company
  • Promptly report any suspected security incidents, breaches, or system vulnerabilities in accordance with Company protocols

Trustpoint does not control client monitoring practices but expects that any such practices will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws and contractual obligations.
