What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Executive Steward position at The Greenbrier?
Position: Assistant Chief Steward
Department: Food & Beverage
Primary Responsibilities: (guest interaction, ordering responsibilities, clean up duties, clerical responsibilities, etc.)
· Supervise and train stewarding staff
· Make sure all outlets are closed down properly and ready for the next day
· Ensure outlets are running smoothly
· Perform daily Safety and sanitation walk through
· Ensure all assigned tasks completed
· Lead by example
· Lead staff in performance of operating procedures and ensure performance levels are met
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Daily assignment of duties
Normal Working Hours: (Shift, days)
· Evening / 5-6 days a week; a few day shifts may be required
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria
Past Work Experience Requirements: (Type of work, number of years required, equivalent experience, etc.)
· Supervisory experience - preferred
· Functional understanding of banquet stewarding responsibilities and procedures – required
· Several years experience as banquet steward - preferred
· Commercial food service experience – preferred
· Operational understanding of ware washing operations and procedures - required
Educational Requirements: (Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)
· High School Diploma or G.E.D.
· Computer Skills – to include making / understanding Microsoft Excel &Microsoft Word documents
Communication Skills Requirements: (Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)
· Able to read, write, speak and communicate English clearly
· Able to give clear instructions and direct the work force. May need to communicate with guests,
Other departments, etc.
Technical Requirements:
· WV Food Handler’s Permit (will provide)
· WV Driver’s License
· Learn and apply the hotel and union policies
