Position Summary TECCA seeks a dedicated and proactive Truancy Officer to lead targeted attendance interventions and support student re-engagement efforts. This role focuses on hands-on student and family engagement, compliance with attendance policies, and collaboration with internal teams and external agencies to address chronic absenteeism. Distinct from School Social Workers and School Counselors, the Truancy Officer maintains a specialized focus on attendance and truancy while working in close partnership with Family Engagement Specialists, social workers, counselors, and school-based administration. This position fills the critical gap between clerical attendance tracking and broader social-emotional support by providing direct, field-based intervention and outreach. Key Responsibilities - Monitor districtwide attendance entry, logging, and tracking, including excused absences and attendance exemptions. - Oversee the implementation of TECCA’s attendance policy. -Support early identification of at-risk students through consistent monitoring of attendance data and intervention. -Implement tiered attendance interventions based on student need, including targeted and intensive supports for chronically absent students. -Provide direct intervention for students and families experiencing chronic absenteeism. -Conduct proactive outreach through phone calls, home visits, and community-based meetings. - Serve as a bridge between TECCA and families by addressing barriers to attendance in culturally responsive ways. -Support student engagement within a virtual learning environment by addressing barriers unique to online schooling, including technology access, scheduling, and independent learning readiness. -Conduct regular home visits within the Eastern Massachusetts region to re-engage students and ensure adherence to attendance policies. -Oversee the implementation of TECCA’s Face-to-Face attendance and safety protocols, ensuring students receive appropriate outreach and support. -Track summer withdrawals and ensure re-enrollment into another district for students between the ages of 6 and 16. -Collaborate closely with Family Engagement Specialists, School Social Workers, School Counselors, and school-based administration while maintaining a distinct focus on attendance and engagement. -Build relationships with local police departments and community agencies, increasing understanding of TECCA’s virtual model and fostering positive collaboration around truancy concerns. -Work in partnership with school social workers in preparation for filing Child Requiring Assistance (CRA) cases through the court system. -Work alongside the enrollment and registrar team to monitor student withdrawals and ensure enrollment in another school for students under 16. -Support the monitoring of students who drop out, conduct exit interviews, and regularly reach out to re-engage these students as required by Massachusetts law -Collaborate with local school districts to support student transitions to brick-and-mortar settings when appropriate. -Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interventions, outreach efforts, and compliance actions in accordance with school and state requirements. -Track, analyze, and report trends related to attendance interventions and student engagement. -Prepare reports and updates for school leadership. -Identify systemic barriers to attendance and recommend solutions to school-based leadership. -Serve as a mandated reporter and follow all protocols related to student safety and well-being. -Support the implementation of statewide MCAS testing. - Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
