Base Area Maintenance

This position supports a positive experience for guests and Taos Ski Valley coworkers by ensuring that the base areas - both main and back-side - are maintained in a clean, safe, and visually appealing condition. Responsibilities include landscape maintenance, handling trash and recycling streams, cleaning restrooms, lobbies, hallways, and staircases, performing minor repairs and maintenance of base area facilities, and completing other duties as assigned. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. Prompt, reliable attendance is expected for all scheduled shifts.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Operate company vehicles and equipment, including 4WD trucks
• Maintain trash, recycling, and compost receptacles; haul waste streams; and process recyclable materials
• Clean and maintain restrooms daily across the resort
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance of outdoor public spaces daily, including scrubbing stains, sweeping, organizing furniture, and maintaining trash and recycling receptacles
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance of buildings daily, including vacuuming, sweeping, shampooing carpets, and cleaning windows and doors
• Establish and maintain landscaping in public spaces during the spring and summer, including, weeding, mowing, weed eating, watering, mulching, planting, and related tasks
• Maintain reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Knowledge:

• Possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and successful pass of MVR check
• Must be 21 years of age or older per insurance requirements, if driving/operating heavy equipment, including 4WD trucks
• Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles preferred
• Knowledge of methods and techniques for cleaning and sanitation of public restrooms and other facilities
• Basic knowledge of repair and maintenance skills and/or ability to learn quickly
• Basic ability to ski or snowboard preferred
• Fluent English skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings

Work Environment: 

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment.  Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include: 

Standing & walking 80-90% of the time. Bending, reaching, sitting, climbing 20-30% of the time. It May require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently. Frequent physically arduous work such as shoveling snow. This position will be outdoors and on snow in cold, winter conditions, requiring travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain.
